Raine's Foundation School has dominated the sport scene at Borough level, and has achieved an outstanding series of successes at the regional and national level for the 2001-2002 academic year. The school is fast becoming recognised as one of the best achieving schools for sports in the country.

Raine's reputation in basketball is unsurpassed by any other school in the country. The Under 15 team were also the National competition runners up. David Ajomobi and Tisean Jeffers were selected for the England National Basketball Passerelle team.

In football, Raine's Foundation School won the Under 16 London Cup and were the Under 12 London Cup Semi Finalists. Raine's Foundation were also the Nike 3 vs. 3 London Competition runners up and one pupil, Adrian Pettigrew, was selected as an Under 16 England International Footballer. The school was also undefeated in the Girls Under 13 Tower Hamlets League and were the winners of the Leyton Orient Cup, with the Under 15s being runners up of the Leyton Orient Cup. The Under 13s also reached the 4th round of the Coca-Cola Girls National Football Cup.

In athletics, Raine's Foundation School have continued to dominate at many levels. They were the Under 12, Under 13 and Under 15 (4th year in a row) Borough Champions with the girls being Junior (3rd year in a row) and Intermediate Borough Champions. Raine's Foundation School were the London Athletic Champions, winning the 'Simmonds Cup' in the Under 12s, Under 14s and Under 15s (4th year running) competitions. Ten athletes were chosen to represent London in regional competitions and Leon Herbert reached the national qualifying standard in the long jump, representing London at the England Schools Competition. Raine's were also the Junior and Intermediate Regional Winners of the TSB National Competition, with the Junior and Intermediate Girls being the Regional Runners Up. The Junior Boys, Junior Girls and both Intermediate teams were the South of England Cup Finalists in the TSB National Competition.

Although athletics, basketball and football dominated the year, there have also been notable successes in other sports. Raine's Foundation School were the Inner London Hedon Cup Rugby winners (Under 14s) with 5 players chosen to represent Middlesex. The Under 12 Cricket Borough Championship was won by a strong Raine's Foundation team and 2 trampolinists were chosen to represent London.

Headteacher Paul Hollingum put this year's achievement into a historical context:

"Raine's Foundation School has always been one of the top sport schools in the Borough. Our teams are constantly putting us into spotlight, especially with their regional and national level of achievements. We aim to continue this in the coming year."
